Focus areas
The focus of the Institutes work is on analysis and reconstruction of accidents; acts of violence; child abuse; sexual violence including sexual abuse of children; staged accidents, health injuries, and acts of violence; the identification of corpses of unknown origin; determination of time of death; and the determination of the age of injuries. Methods used are toxicological analysis and the molecular genetic investigation of biological evidence. In addition, the Institute conducts paternity testing and provides expertise in determining the identity of biological evidence.

- Participation in the TOKEN study of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI)
