Social Services
Essen University Hospital Social Services accompanies and supports patients and their families in coping with problems that may arise from medical conditions and disabilities, and that may affect their lives psychologically, physically, professionally, or financially. In doing so, Social Services cooperates closely with other professionals in- and outside the hospital.
It is our goal to support you, the patient, in coping with your medical condition and to offer assistance tailored to your needs. We will inform you and your family of the various types of assistance available, so you can make informed decisions regarding further rehabilitation and care measures that fit your individual situation.
All our counseling is based on your individual health situation.
We will answer your questions and help you with:
- Rehabilitation measures
- Outpatient and inpatient nursing care
- Nursing aids
- Household help
- Financial aid
- Questions regarding the German social insurance system, e.g., disability, sickness benefits, long-term care benefits, retirement benefits
- Legal aspects of care
- Additional outpatient aids
- Coping with illness
