Second opinion

Seeking a second opinion is a perfectly acceptable and common practice in cancer care. We aim at a full understanding and evaluation of your treatment options, regardless of the stage of the cancer or the phase of cancer treatment. For many types of cancer, several treatment options may exist and only the patient can weigh his options and make a choice among the given alternatives.

Taking your personal preferences into account our goal is to provide you with an optimal treatment recommendation for your disease. The results of this process are summarized in a written report for you and your caregivers. In case of inconsistent, incomplete or missing documents (discharge letters, medical, diagnostic or progress reports) it may be difficult or impossible to formulate a treatment plan. Providing us with the most up-to-date and precise medical information would be in your interest.

Please consider in advance that most health plans do not pay for second opinions outside the country. Exactly how your insurance handles second opinions depends on your individual plan.
