1994: Appointment of Professor K.-H. Jöckel. The Institute is renamed Institut für Medizinische Informatik, Biometrie und Epidemiologie (IMIBE)
Focus areas
The tasks of the Institute include teaching and research in the fields of computer science in medicine, biostatistics, and epidemiology.
The Institutes organizational structure reflects the focus areas of its scientific work:
Working group Medical Informatics Head: Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Britta Böckmann
Working group Biometry and Bioinformatics Head: PD Dr. rer. physiol. André Scherag
Working group Cardiovascular-Epidemiology & Prevention Head: Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Susanne Moebus, MPH
Working group Cancer epidemiology Head: Dr. med. Lewin Eisele
Working group Medical Documentation Head: Hildegard Lax
Project group Complementary medicine Head: Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Susanne Moebus, MPH
Project group Health Care Epidemiology Head: Dr. rer. medic. Claudia Pieper
Clinical Cancer Registry Head: Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Karl-Heinz Jöckel
Occupational Toxicology Head: Prof. Dr. med. Albert Rettenmeier
With the Centre for Urban Epidemiology (Head: Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Susanne Moebus, MPH) the IMIBE takes part in the Main Research Area “Urban Systems“ at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
We provide the full range of CRO services in the Centre for Clinical Studies of Essen (Zentrum für Klinische Studien Essen, ZKSE, Scientific Director: Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Karl-Heinz Jöckel). In terms of study design planning or statistical questions we offer in-house consulting. See also www.zkse.de/dienstleistung/
