As part of Be-MoVe, the Institute for Urban Public Health (InUPH) is looking into the topic of acoustic quality in urban spaces, how this is perceived and evaluated by people, and how the quality of stay is influenced by this. In order to answer these questions, InUPH is conducting listening walks, internationally known as "soundwalks", in Holsterhausen and the city center and is still looking for participants.

The InUPH organizes from 08.11.22 to 09.11.22 together with the Institute for Urban Design and European Urban Studies of RWTH Aachen University the 8th conference "City of the Future" under the title "Urban HealthLandscapes of the Future".
The German Science Council has appointed epidemiologist Prof. Dr. Susanne Moebus as an expert. As an expert of an interdisciplinary commission, she evaluates the Institute for Preventive Medicine of the German Armed Forces. With its more than 40 million health records as well as military-specific research, the institution makes substantial contributions and advises executives of the Bundeswehr. Prof. Moebus heads the Institute for Urban Public Health, founded in 2020. There, she researches, among other things, the impact of urban planning on our health. WHO published the review "Urban redevelopment of contaminated sites". Prof. Dr. Susanne Moebus, Timo Haselhoff and Jonas Hornberg were involved as authors. To the document
Prof. Dr. Susanne Moebus was appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board of the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung) in August 2021.
Prof. Dr. Susanne Moebus was convened into the "Council for Ecology and Sustainability" of the Bishop of Essen in July 2021 and participates there in an active and advisory capacity.
Judith Schröder attended the 4th advisory board meeting on the development of an integrated sustainability strategy for the city of Essen on 03 August 2021. The main topic of the meeting was the draft target system of the sustainability strategy.
The Institue for Urban Public Health offers Bachelor’s and Master’s theses in the context of various research projects. We provide individual supervision and support on various issues such as methodological questions, literature research as well as helping to acquire specialist literature.
