The Department of Otorhinolarnygology is part of the University Hospital Essen. The clinic consists of 4 wards with altogether 76 beds and a modern, well-equipped outpatient area (policlinic). Surgical procedures are performed in 4 top level operation rooms.

Our clinic is specialized to all operative and conservative diseases in the field of Otorhinolaryngology. Intensive interdisciplinary contacts to the other departments of the university hospital enable a comprehensive and senseful treatment of our patients. The department is part of the "Westdeutsches Tumorzentrum Essen" (West German Tumour Centre).

• Surgery of middle ear and cochlear implant
  (Cochlear-Implant-Programme, German lang.)
  
  
• Tumour Therapy (German lang.) including laser surgery and plastic reconstructions
  
  
• Plastic and aesthetic surgery of nose, ear and skin
  
  
• Microscopical and endoscopical sinus, skull base and orbita surgery
  with the possibility of the Computer Aided Surgery (CAS)

Special Consultation Hours:

           Tumour follow-up: Mon, Wed 8 -11 a.m.  

           Cochlear Implant: Tue, Wed, Do 9 -10 a.m.

           Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery: Thu 11 - 13 a.m.

           Children Consultation Hour: Wed 13 - 15 Uhr

           Allergology: Thu 13 - 15 a.m.

           Skull Base Surgery: Fri 13 - 15 a.m.

           Sleeping Disorders: Thu 9 - 12 a.m.

           The consultation hours are leaded by the head physicians.

Further special consultation hours are offered to the themes smell and taste  disorders, Morbus Menière, Diving und Acupuncture (dates on request).

Emergencies:
Outside the regular consultation hours, outpatient emergencies are attended by the outpatient practices of ENT physicians in Essen.

The right physician can be found by the emergency center in Essen, which can be reached by phone 0180 50 44 100.

For severe emergencies and accidants, which probably lead to a surgical therapy and/or a inward therapy, there is an ENT emergency service available in the ENT department 24 h around the clock.
