Focus areas
Hematology/oncology: Treatment of malignant diseases in children and adolescents; disorders of blood, blood formation, immune response, and blood clotting; therapies including the administration of blood substitutes; chemotherapy; bone marrow transplants; thermotherapy.
Pulmonology: Respiratory tract diseases; cystic fibrosis; sleep medicine; and non-invasive ventilation.
Cardiology: Diagnosis and both pharmacological and interventional treatment of congenital and acquired cardiac disorders; intrauterine cardiac diagnosis in cooperation with the obstetricians; care of adult patients with congenital heart defects in cooperation with the Clinic for Cardiology

Staff
The clinic employs 18 physicians including 10 specialists in pediatric and adolescent medicine. Additional qualifications in pediatric hematology/oncology (3); pediatric cardiology (2); pediatric pulmonology (1) and anesthesiology (1); there are also 56 nurses.
Continued school education of inpatients during their stay is provided by the ?Ruhrlandschule - Schule für Kranke,? a German public school.
